Origins and historical evolution
The Centro del Carmen de Cultura Contemporánea (CCCC), located in the heart of Valencia, is a space where history and modernity meet, giving rise to this emblematic monument that attracts so many tourists every year. Originally founded in 1281 as a convent, it has undergone several transformations over the centuries, giving rise to the combination of three different architectural styles: Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic. After its disentailment in 1835, it was put to various uses, such as art school, Academy of Fine Arts and military barracks. However, it was in 1980, when it was recognised as a Historic-Artistic Monument, restored by the Generalitat Valenciana and converted into a cultural centre and headquarters of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community.
Exhibitions
Since its opening as a cultural centre in 2011, the CCCC has integrated contemporary art and culture with its historical heritage, offering a variety of events such as exhibitions, performances, workshops and educational activities. Some of the current exhibitions you can enjoy include the following:

that highlights texture and colour.
